Hey there!! I hope everything is going well for everyone. I wish you all the best. As for me, I am currently bored out of my mind thinking of what I should have for lunch. Yes, life sucks when you don't know what you want to have for lunch. So I thought I'd blog for a bit since its been "a day" since I posted. LOL. Anyways, I forgot to mention to y'all that I have recently been to The Garden Restaurant in Mid Valley with my usual friends. You know, the place that looks like a garden, has a nice backdrop for photos and has been there for ages. That was honestly the first time I have been there and I didn't even order any food because I had ate already before I met them. But I ordered tea and actually about 80% of the reason why was because of how it looks. It was so pretty I just had to have it!! The food was not bad, I tried some of Charissa's stuff and its actually quite good. I could not stop taking photos of my cup, the flower on my table because it was just so pretty.

Oh and they, I mean Charissa had a surprise for me! It was secret santa time and she was my secret santa so Whatever goodies in that box is now all mine!!

And guess what I got for Christmas in January? Body Shop stuff. I could just die.

So then after, we went to Haagen-Daaz for ice-cream because of the vouchers that we had. Plus, Ju was with us and he just came back from the land down under. I rarely have Haagen-Daaz, I usually have Baskin Robbins or I just go to The Bee and get me some Last Polka but it was a treat. The have this Green Tea Hibiscus thing that I know, sounds horrible but it was surprisingly not bad. We got that flavour thanks to Ju. LOL.

It says that Haagen-Daaz is so famously slow to melt. That is total bullcrap because our ice-cream melted so freaking fast!!

That was not the end of it. Some time last week before CNY ended I did some visiting to Jared's place. Then we had Nando's for dinner, I was too hungry to take any photos of Nando's but then after we wandered around and ended up at The Bee which according to Cheah is a "hipster" place but we had tea, I had ice-cream and Jared was not feeling very good.

It's been awhile now and just the other day Anne, Ser, Charissa, Burn, Aly, and Ju... we all hung out again but mostly just Anne, Ser and I because Burn and Aly went to Popeyes for the forbidden meal and Charissa went to see Yoga. But I was just telling Ser, Anne and Charissa that I need to find myself again. Like I am feeling rather lost after graduation. I have been feeling lost since year 2 of college and maybe this happens to a lot of people but I have got to do something about it. Pull some Eat,Pray,Love thing you know. I was supposed to go to Singapore with the girls for Ser's birthday but like I said, business is slow and I don't want to use my "funds".

I do need to find myself, if that is even possible. I am considering an art program and since my parents are not very happy about it I would have to get a student loan or something. I do honestly feel bad because right after I graduate I decide to do something completely different but it just feels right. It feels so much more right compared to when I had to decide on what to do few years back. Maybe I am more mature, or maybe its an immature decision. I'll have to figure it out. Any opinions. I'm 22 and lost. I don't know. If you've been there, any advice would be good. Leave a comment down below and I'll blog soon.

Hello again! I with you all every happiness and hope that everything is all good. I have some good news to share, I am graduating. I finally got the email the other day that told me to confirm my attendance to my graduation ceremony in Shangri-La on the 22nd of April. I have to say, I am rather excited about it but the only sad part is that I have to pay to attend my own graduation. Yes, you heard me right. "PAY". It was definitely a bit sad to think that after paying so much tuition and resource fees and everything to my college, when it comes time for them to celebrate our graduation, they still make us pay for it. After I saw how much the amount came up to, I had half the mind not to attend, just take the cert from the office and leave. I have to pay RM950 to graduate and that only permits both my parents to come along. If my grandmother and my younger brother wants to come they each have to pay another RM200. To me that's just a little too much for something that I think the university should readily provide after we have been there with the institution for 3 some 5 years. With the total amount of money I have to spend for my graduation I could throw a party complete with a band, fireworks and gift bags at my parents place already. So it is kind of bittersweet for me right now. I have to pay so much for my graduation but yet I am graduating. I don't know about you but I just think it is not right. RM950, I could donate that money to some charity and they could benefit so much from it compared to giving it to HELP University so I can walk up a stage in some robe to get a scroll of paper and a meal. So as you have already should have realized, I am still contemplating whether or not I should attend my own graduation. I don't know, did you have to pay for your graduation ceremony? and if you were in my position, what would you do? Leave a comment down below.

Hello there again! I hope everyone has got a good holiday and considering that most people, unlike me who is currently trying out my hand in business are already working happy working to you. So as you can see in my last post, I wasn't too happy about CNY. I know I should be and honestly, I love the concept, I just dread the foreign beds, the scorching heat and the very elaborate, hard to digest foods. All things aside, the last day of CNY passes yesterday and I honestly have to say I have had a rather nice CNY this year. Aside from things being a little laid back and the usual family dramas things were pretty good. I have been a little stressed though, business is not good. I have to honestly consider on choosing masters or looking for a job preferably an internship and preferably with some magazine or publishing company or some fashion thing. Yes, despite my degree of choice. Anyways, lets put that aside for some other time. Like I said, my CNY was rather enjoyable and I had many adventures too.

So as usual, I had to go back to grandma's for reunion and the first and second day. We left on the second day of CNY though and because the parents officially started work of the fourth day, we did not go to Taiping until much later in the week but when we did, we accomplished so much. We went for breakfast in Ipoh, dimsum was the breakfast of choice. Then back to Taiping for a day filled with visiting. Then it was back to KL for some R&R.

Oh, we also had lots of food for dinner at our favourite place to eat in Taiping. Yes Restaurant. We go there everytime we're back in Taiping and the quality is super consistent! Never once have I had a bad meal there. If you ever are in Taiping, just ask around and have a meal there.

The City Girls' Village Survival Guide

Happy Chinese New Year,

I hope everyone is happy and well and enjoying the current festivities. It's that time of the year again where we eat and eat and wear new clothes and not wash our hair. It's not that I dislike Chinese New Year or anything, I love it but going back to my grandma's sometimes makes me feel a little out of place. I get it and everyone is going to say that I am a brat and all that nonsense but listen okay. There is no internet for one, it is hot as hell, there is not much room or at least not enough room to have some privacy, and I never seem to be able to digest the food when I am there and I tried, its not a matter of volume and and the worst thing of all... is those Chinese New Year specials where people humiliate themselves by playing some stupid game on TV. I honestly have never understood the appeal of gameshows. I just don't get it and well, I don't get a say when I am back. All day long the TV blasts these shows, one more ridiculous than the other. Seriously, the Chinese must be smarter than this. So enough of my rant, even though I know there is more to come and here's

The City Girls' Village Survival Guide.

Sunscreen. It gets really hot in the village especially if there is no air conditioning and trust me, even if there is, its not going to make a whole lot of difference. So load up on the sunscreen and get yourself a large hat like the one Samantha Jones had in Sex in the City. People will look at you funny, so maybe just stick with sunscreen.
Portable internet. I know, I know... CNY is supposed to be about family time and eating but if you are in any other typically Chinese family, the routine is most probably (take angpao, eat, sleep, watch TV, take angpao, visit relatives) There is no such thing as talking or catching up. At least not really.
Dry Shampoo. If your family is as Chinese as mine they probably told you that you cannot wash your hair on the first day of CNY. Now, in China its spring and its still cold so its okay if you don't wash your hair for just one day. But here in Malaysia, it is hot as hell and if you don't wash your hair for one day, it looks like a pile of shiny plastic. Consolation is that probably everyone would smell as bad as you.
Laptop. And lots of Gossip Girl and 90210. How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory works just as well.
Headphones. Preferably those noise cancelling ones from Bose to drown out all that gameshow noise.
Tank tops, tubes and shorts. Now, this is definitely an essential but in my village, everyone looks at your funny because apparently I am exposing too much skin.
Book. I am bringing my Dance,Dance, Dance this time.
Hydrating masks. Or you can always substitute with facial mist. Nothing special, just use the one Evian made or if you wanna go ECO, buy a bottle and put water in it.
Shower gel, Shampoo, and Conditioner. This is not a must, but I sure as hell don't want my hair to smell different so I bring my own.
Money. Bring lots of cash with you. If you get bored at least you can go buy something instead of staying at home. There is definitely not going to be a Starbucks but anything will do.
Slimming or Detox tea. After all that eating, you've just gotta do some cleansing.
Bring your own hair dryer fully equipped with universal plug.
Last but not least, have fun. Its a celebration after all so just embrace it. I mean, if bad goes to worse, you know you will always have your Gossip Girl.

I think that's all I got. I also usually pack 2 changes of outfits for each day I am there not because I am a show off but it is so bloody hot. I am living the dream here I tell you. 1 more day and I officially cannot wash my hair for a whole day. Anyways, I am sure you know I love Chinese New Year and here's wishing everyone Xin Nian Kuai Le. I also must point out that that famous saying you keep saying to everyone without realizing, Gong Xi Fa Cai, that literally translates to Congratulations! Get rich. I mean, it seems just a little ignorant to wish your grandma Gong Xi Fa Cai not to mention a bit materialistic. So have a wonderful holiday and as always, stay healthy, happy and I'll talk to ya'll soon.

Best Thing I Never Had - Beyonce

Hope you are all doing fine. Well, resuming my post about doing something interesting each week, well actually just doing something a week so I don't get too bored. So here it is. I went shopping, almost regularly... baked cookies with mum, started sorting out my Chinese New Year luggage, hung out with my girls at Plan B, cleaned my room, sketched and bought some flowers. So far, I think I've hit my quota for almost few weeks to come already but heck, the more interesting, the better. As usual and because this post is going to be really short as I have to go make even more cookies for the upcoming festivities here are some photos for you to feast your eyes on.

Hello again! I hope all's great in the new year. Since the new year has started for exactly 11 days. I have been thinking of and have been suggested to, meet more people and expand my social circle. So, following this very interesting article, How To Be Interesting (In 10 Simple Ways) and countless pesters from others and by others I mean peers. My parents literally wish I would die alone. Either that or they think that for some reason, friends come to you. You can just stay at home and somehow you will meet people. My parents also hate it when I go out like Rapunzel but sadly my hair is not magical and does not heal. So here's something I pitched to myself earlier. I should do something every week. Hence the title, 1 week 1 event. Just so life does not get too boring and flat you know. So I started of with MOVIDA, The Scott Garden yesterday, my friends they called and I actually went. Very uncharacteristic of me. I personally do not fancy clubs or bars. But hey, I had a social outing. Oh oh oh! And I have pics to prove it too and even videos. :D Oh and MOVIDA has like this awesome promotion for drinks, buy 1 free 2. Its like what the?! But its true so if you want to drink, go check it out. I think they have one in Sunway Giza too.

In other stories, I got my results today and I passed. God is great. So for the 1 week 1 event thing, please leave possible things for me to do in the comments below. It's officially the 3rd day of the new year. I hope you are doing great and having an awesome time. I was thinking earlier that I should follow the trend and make new years resolutions but then I realized that I never achieve any of those goals I normally would set out to do and instead, I achieve better things; things that I don't plan to do. So instead of making a list of things that I should accomplish, I thought I'd just hope for the best and make with whatever I have right now. I would just pray then...

Looking Back

Ciao Bella!!

Its the last day of 2011 and the year has been amazing. It passes so quickly and every year this time it just reminds me that every second passes with out without me noticing it and it teaches me to cherish and remember every moment. Instead of telling or listing the happenings of 2011. I decided to put it in photos and since a picture is worth a thousand words, here's my 30000 word essay. Simply put together are the events I cherish this year, in no particular order or importance.

The year 2011 started with a bang. Literally. Exactly 1 year in the past I was standing in front of PJ Hilton watching the fireworks go off with my family. Start with a bang, end with a bang and I think PJ Hilton will be having a firework display tonight too. This past year has been good, lots of ups and even more downs. More than the 30000 words can ever express. I completed my degree, stressed over and survived thesis, sold something, started a company, reinvented myself, took leaps, tried something new, met new people, lost some people, seen places,became a writer and got paid for my writing, had a read job, learned about autism, read, sang, danced, smiled, cried, frowned, there is so much I did and experienced in the one year, I had so much fun, grew tremendously and today is a little more symbolic than any other NYE because starting next year, I will be starting a new chapter in my life and officially become an adult. A working adult. I cannot stress how much I have learnt and how much I have lived and I look forward to 2012 and I pray the Mayans be wrong. Regardless how you have or have not spent your 2011, just like Oprah says its another year to get it right.

Take It or Leave It - Sublime With Rome

How is everyone doing? I hope you are all doing well. Christmas is over, and New Years is just around the corner. Here's one short little blog about this quaint little store in SS2 PJ which Vicki found and then told me about. I went there not so long ago and I loved it. Its called the Pipit Zakka Store and it is a dream for all the darlings out there who love crafts and lomography. The store has 2 floors. Downstairs is a lomographer's heaven and upstairs a craft nirvana. I was there for only a short while after lunch just to check it out and I have not found the time to go back ever since but I definitely will. I did not take any photographs of downstairs but as for upstairs. Here's a sneak peek of what to expect.

Merry Christmas everybody. I hope everyone is well and had an awesome Christmas. Whether or not you are Christian, the Christmas season is always a great time to get together with friends, celebrate, get fat and have fun. I love Christmas, I am not even Christian but it doesn't matter. This year, my friends and I we paraded almost all the place with our Santa Hats on and it definitely adds to a lot of the fun and feeling of togetherness. It started off as an innocent idea to mark the final paper in our degree by wearing Santa Hat on the last day of college. The memo did not really catch on to the department but my friends and I wore it. It was so fun and it kept our heads warm throughout the paper.

Right after the paper, we headed to The Bee in Jaya One. One of my favourite places to chill and hangout but the price of the things have increased and its not really affordable any more but I still love the atmosphere. The're open already in Publika if you are not near PJ like me. I thought I'd share with you some photos of my little Christmas. Its not many because we were having too much fun.

Here's just some random shots of Christmas this year. All around KL and whatever that makes me feel Christmassey ends up here. All in all, the Santa Hats are now tradition and the Christmas was great. Macaroons Part 2 - Tips and Stuff

Its been a long time since I've made some Macaroons. I plan on making them once again and so I thought I would share some tips and stuff about macaroons that I have learnt from the time I made mine. If you are looking for the post of where I made my first ever batch of Macaroons, click here. So now back to the tips and stuff. Here they are...

Silicone mat, Silicone paper or Parchment paper? If you do not own a silicone mat its fine. You can buy silicone paper or just use parchment paper. The trick is silicone items like the mat and the paper ensures easy release of the macaroon cookies. If you don't have any of those and if you use parchment paper... they are definitely going to stick. I used parchment paper as well and they were a pain getting off. What you can do is, once the cookies come out of the oven, let them cool. Then, flip the sheet of paper and on the back of each macaroon, dab a little circle of water onto the paper. Once done with every cookie, flip the entire sheet back and slowly peel. It should be fine but if you find that its a little wet, flip the cookies upside down and bake for another 5 to 8 minutes.
Almond paste or ground almonds. Both work fine. I used finely ground almonds in mine. If you do not have almond paste, just use ground almonds. If you don't ground almonds, just get normal almonds and with some confectioners sugar... dump everything into a food processor and make the magic happen.
The Foot. This refers to the thin line of what looks like accumulated fluffy almonds on the bottom of each cookie. This is simple to achieve. Once you've piped the cookies and they have rested for 15 minutes... lift up the tray and drop it. Carefully of course but yes, drop it.
Folding. The first batch I made was not very pretty at least to me but I actually have seen people selling those that looked like that. Not good enough for me. What I learned is that there is nothing wrong with folding. Just fold away... Everything should be well incorporated. Fold gently but fold thoroughly.

I think that's all for now. I'm no expert baker, these are just the things I have learnt following my first attempt. Just thought I'd share it with you. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

Danza Kuduro - Don Omar & Lucenzo

Hope everything's been going well for everyone. I'm doing okay, currently taking a break form the flipping of pages and staring at the laptop screen to blog about my visit to Ben's the other day with the family for dinner and an awesome performance by Julio Iglesias and some amazing fireworks in conjunction with the reopening of Starhill Gallery. Another part of a whirlwind week of dinners, fun, parties and simply enjoying life. The excitement has definitely toned down a little since its finals week for me. No more parties, no more eating out and to be honest I feel that its all for the common good. I was getting a little too spoilt recently, both my brother and I and it got me thinking that I best get down to earth soon before I lose who I am. Regardless, I still love a fabulous time, all the time.

Now, on to the food and decorations! The decor was gorgeous, just like the Ben's in KLCC and I think better even however the KLCC one feels more warm and cozy, maybe because of its size in general. So I have to say I love the decor. Good for photos if you're armed with a good camera and flash. If you're sitting outside on the balcony and you want to take photographs, don't even think about it at night. The lighting is way too dim and horrible so you do need a good cam and a good flash. Other than that, everything is not bad. For purposes of food, I am going to have to compare with Hard Rock because if I compare it with the other restaurants of the BIG group it would be redundant. They all have the same menu.

Dessert!

For me, the weirdest traditional remedy for sickness I know is most probably the one for hiccups. Apparently if you put a bowl on your head and knock it 3 times, it will rid you of the hiccups. Yes, uber weird.

Buffalo Wings.

The wings were not bad. Appetizing but way to sour for my taste. It comes in a serving of 6 so you can share but it also comes with 3 sad little sticks of cucumber and a crazy small amount of watered down blue cheese dip. It wasn't right for me, maybe I need to lower my expectations about restaurants churned out by the BIG group.

Garden Salad.

This was my dad's. By far the best thing compared to what we all had for the night but still not worth it for me. If I'm not mistaken, its 25 ringgit for that. I would eat it again though.

Ben's Burger.

This was mine. It was a COMPLETE LETDOWN! Like it was that bad. The best part of this was the salad. The actual patty was mushy on the inside and it tasted like a Ramly patty. No doubt it was a really thick patty but it was actually quiet gross to eat. I will not order this again, it might be that my burger was the only one messed up and others might find it totally fine but the texture was weird. I have better burgers at home. Maybe its just their Pavillion branch.

Nasi Istimewa.

Nasi Istimewa was my brother's choice and also by far the most expensive thing on the menu, no actually it was just the most expensive thing we had that night. It had loads of local stuff on it so I'm guessing it should be good. I did not steal a bite because it looked to me like my brother would still be hungry after that. My comment is that it is still quite pricey.

All in all it was a wonderful night. Will I go to Ben's again for food, maybe yes depending on who I am going with. Will I order the burger again? Probably not. Hello again my pretties! Hope everyone is doing well. I've been studying as it is finals week. Two papers have passed and I am left with one more for the weekend and then I will be done. Feeling nostalgic about it wouldn't even begin to describe how I feel. Anyways, here's just a short little update. So it had taken super long for me to post this but if you follow me on twitter, you would have known that I went for some fine dining the other day at Samplings on the Fourteen. I went there with Vicki, to support my brother and some of his friends. So here details my adventure on the 14th floor in Berjaya UCH. I know for one that Vicki definitely had not enough food. Fine dining, well the food is tiny.

Bread and butter. I had 2 different varieties but this was the nicer one. I think its multi-grain.

Vicki had the smoked salmon and potatoes and garden salad.

Dessert was a poached pear with pistachio custard berry compote.

Kind of a birds eye view of the dessert. One of the prettiest dessert I have ever seen.

It was a good experience altogether and we got to support my brother and his friends. It was super adorable to see all these kids working and serving. Oh, and if you were wondering who my brother is. He's actually our waiter for the day. Yes, that guy. There are many more food adventure posts coming up I promise but I have better get back to studying for my finals. So until the next time...

Christmas is coming sooner than ever and it is during this time of the month that people start making wishes, buying things, and I have a Secret Santa gift to figure out! I know I haven't been updating rather regularly. I've been doing lots of things and not forgetting that finals are coming up very very soon. So what I'm going to do it start scheduling my posts. So anyways, I hope everyone's all good and happy. I know I am. So here it is, in all his glory. My baby cousin.

He's only one month old, extremely cute and we all went home to my grandma's for his "full moon" celebration. It's some Chinese thing so there's like simple prayers and stuff. Most of it is just food. He;s one cranky little baby but everyone loves him, we've haven't a baby in our family for a long long time. For some reason, babies kinda freak me out. At the beginning stage of course. So fragile, so many things can go wrong, there's the shaken baby syndrome, the soft spots, the noodle neck, the overall fragility of the child, the allergies, the proneness to sickness, the not being able to understand or know exactly what he/she wants. OMG! Its just so ... but then they're so cute. Sadly, he has no baby smell don't know why but no baby smell. So here's just some photos for you to feast your eyes on. Nope, I didn't have a photo with the baby.. carrying him was horrible enough.

Can you guess what I am baking today? I'm guessing you probably can considering the title I chose for this post. So yes, I had my first attempt at making the very sought after, very expensive, the dessert with the reputation of being extremely easy to screw up; Macaroons. (pronounced Mah-Kha-Rons) I watched this SORTED food tutorial on YouTube the other day and decided that it was easy enough to make. Click the link to see the tutorial and the list of ingredients + recipe. I have to say, it was not as difficult as I thought it would be although mine didn't turn out as pretty as it should.

The ingredients are simple, egg whites, icing sugar or confectioners sugar, caster sugar, ground almonds, flavourings (optional) and food colouring (also optional) Ignore the 3 egg yolks there, I just separated them and didn't remember to take it out of the photo. Below are some photos of the process, mine didn't turn out as pretty and it was probably the heat but I do believe that if you follow the recipe on that website it will work and it tastes good too. I just need some practice with piping and the folding to make it look better. I will definitely try these again, they're great especially for parties and gifts.

Try it for yourself and tell me how it goes. I promise it is easy and even though mine didn't turn out great the first time, doesn't mean yours wont too. Its a matter of skill and patience. If you do decide to do, comment and share your results with me. I would love to hear from you.

Hard Rock Cafe KL

Hope everyone's doing good. If you follow my Twitter you would know that I have recently dined at the Hard Rock Cafe KL; indisputably one of my favourite places in Kuala Lumpur. It never fails to make anyone feel like a rock star but bear in mind that a trip to the Hard Rock Cafe for Malaysians usually mean a splurge; it isn't cheap being a rock star. But they were celebrating 20 years of Rock, and we were invited to go. Can't believe that they've been open for 20 years. Incidentally, the main items I love on the menu was also 50% off + dinner was on mom. The place was packed, thank god we were on the waiting list so we only had to wait for the next table that was available.

Memorabilia filled walls, and a full restaurant.

Chef Richard must have been swamped in the kitchen.

Fajitas, kind of a staple when the family dines here.

Hickory smoked ribs with BBQ sauce.

NY Strip with the most gorgeous mashed potatoes in the world!

Last but not least, nachos. The best parts was the jalapeños and the cheese.

Needless to say, I left Hard Rock feeling every bit the Rock Star and a very very happy woman. I do miss the brownies though. If you every have the chance to go, the above items usually never disappoint and do flush everything down with a nice brownie. Costly, but it tastes like a dream in your mouth. Everything does at Hard Rock.

Earlier for lunch, I had it at Cinnamon Box at the newly opened KL Festival City where "everyday is a celebration" LOL but in all honesty, the place is gorgeous. Its reminds me of +Wondermilk, almost the same vibe but of course the latter has a little more charm. I was not really hungry and I was going to have dinner at Hard Rock KL later in the evening so all I got was the Caramelized Banana with Cinnamon and it was really good. Very simple but very well done.

Like I said, I only had the desert so only one photograph of food. The rest if of the decor. The decor is brilliant, a combination of sleek and rustic with clean white lines and wood elements of nature.

Those are the Cinnamon Boxes. I have never seen these things ever so it was a first for me. And you know what, its really made of cinnamon.

I hope all's good with you. The week's been very fun and filled with every possible indulgence possible; actually its just the past two days and I am loving it! Tuesday was a good day, I got a cuppa at Starbucks after a long time and it was so Christmassy and everything it just made me happy! I also bought Pink Martini's Joy To The World album. It's only 9.99 on iTunes. I had to bring my Latte to lecture though, could not hang out at Starbucks like I normally do but it was a good lecture that day so all is good.

When we're together, snowmen come to life. :D

I also kinda stole a mini cup from them.. Its just too cute!

Also, 80% of the people I showed the Starbucks Fried Chicken to completely bought it and thought that Starbucks has gone weird. Its actually BBQ flavoured Twisties in the mini Starbucks cup I took. I'll blog more soon, I'm really distracted right now.

Criminal - Britney Spears

Ni Hao everyone!

Hope everyone's doing well. Forgive me for its been awhile. I have been having all sorts of problems with my mobile and with that I mean my camera as well. I know I still have my Nikon D90 but that's a little too heavy to lug around and not to mention I have been having some issues with that as well. For those of you who follow me on Twitter you would have known that I had dinner at Xin Cuisine @ Concorde KL just the other day with the family. It was a promotion thing and therefore there was a measly 6-course dinner. I have to say the food was not bad, but I definitely had better. There were performances after 8pm of old Chinese classics from Teresa Teng to Fei Yu Qing and the performances were not bad either but if you'd ask me, I honestly would rather be at Hard Rock instead. That's just me though. One thing that was commendable was the service, I thought the service was quite good.

Now, I know it is customary for me to put up photos but as I have said earlier, the problems with my phone kinda bums me out because the photos have been mysteriously disappearing, then appearing and then disappearing again. I think its time for me to either send the phone back or get the 4S + Plan.

I'll blog more soon; once I get things fixed with the phone or get another camera. I should be going to Hard Rock soon... Can't wait!

Hope everyone is doing fine and having fun. I had the pleasure of hosting my very first, very own Tea Party the other day on the occasion of the 22nd Birthday of one of my very close friends. I missed her birthday at Rootz KL the other day and so this is payback plus something that I have always wanted to do. I honestly thought that "Hosting a Tea Party" was on the list but as it turns out, it wasn't. Like I said, I had lots of fun and you can too if you wanted. Its not very complicated but I am lucky to have a beautiful home to boot. So here's my guide to throwing a Tea Party.

Tea Party 101

What is a Tea Party?

A Tea Party is essentially a small gathering of people, usually girls or women where they drink tea, have finger food, desserts, chat, and have a relaxing yet fun afternoon. Normally, a Tea Party does not exceed a guest-list of 10 or the maximum 15. Reason being that its usually a rather intimate gathering where banter is exchanged randomly and freely and the host is always included in the party unlike cocktail parties where people walk around and engage in small talk.

My party had 7 guests in total, just nice to fit around one table.

The Menu

Tea Parties usually feature an assortment of pastries, cakes, desserts, and sandwiches served on a cake tray of some sort. Traditionally, English tea is served as an accompaniment to the food but of course it can be improvised accordingly to the theme, or personal preferences. Normally the food is prepared by the host but in my case, I had a little help from all the other attendees.

That day's menu featured tuna sandwiches, cupcakes, cookies and peanut butter cups. The served was Jasmine Green Tea by Twinings. Again, I had said that it could be better but we had fun even with those few items.

Decoration and Location

Tea Parties usually work best on a garden and outside. It also provides for wonderful photo opportunities for those who love snapping memories. Colour is extremely important to liven up the atmosphere, but for a more traditional Tea Party, colour swatches remain in the pastel family. Minor details are extremely important. If it is just a gathering which happens quite often then the table setting is actually decor enough however if it is a bigger occasion then decorations should vary accordingly.

Mine, we celebrated a birthday so we had banners, helium balloons, and the guest dressed in color. We had it at my patio and no I didn't even use the fine china.

Table Setting

Probably the most important part of the whole party because all guests will be spending most of the time at the table. So get out your tea sets, dessert spoons and forks, butter knives, dessert plates, serviettes, and like mentioned earlier, its all in the details. A flower centrepiece will instantly make the whole place much prettier and tying a ribbon around all the cutlery and the napkin makes it all look neat. Make sure the colour palatte matches though, tea parties are more of a nod to tradition than a full on modern affair.

Like I said earlier, I didn't need to bust out the Fine China or anything as its just a small gathering so work with what you have, the more important thing is the company and their enjoyment.

Pumped Up Kicks - Foster The People

Buonasera everyone,

I've been meaning to post this for awhile but I have not gotten to it. I hope everyone's been doing well and since its 11.11.11, I hope everyone's made the best of the day. As for me, I didn't even rebel conformity this time I just had too much on my plate to even be thinking about partying. Now trust me, I wish I was nowhere else but out there having a good time or even throwing a bad ass party but I am nonetheless stuck with a pile of assignments and not to mention some people who have yet to feel my wrath. I shall tell you about all that later. Here's some photos of when I was more relaxed and had time to enjoy afternoon tea. There is nothing I love more than having a good full on feminine afternoon tea session, whether it is with friends of just with myself followed by a good pampering but alas! that will not be happening any time soon.

Dancing in the Dark

Hello folks,

So, over the weekend I procrastinated, partied almost everyday and every night. Lost my Club virginity to Zouk KL and partied all night long! So there's a couple of things to cross off the bucket list.

37. Go to a Nightclub
53. Party "All Night Long!"

I went there with a couple of friends of course and it is technically a big deal because no one in the world would ever find me out later than 11pm let alone at Zouk KL. So guess I am one step closer to being "cool"; always gotta start somewhere right?

So what happened other than Zouk? We've gotta start with TAO first. So last Wednesday, I went to TAO for a birthday party. Mel's birthday party. So Mel then requested that we party at Zouk and so since my college days are coming close to the end and I've not actually done college kid stuff ever... I decided to go.
Then I ended up at Zouk, leaving Zouk at 4.30am, having some nosh at Pelita till around 5am, drove home with the stereo blasting at warp speed because there were no cars at 6 in the morning.

Then I reached home, took a cold shower and then did a bunch of stuff like sending my mom to the morning market, buying breakfast, and preparing for the party later that night. Yes! Another party. 24 hours, 2 parties and NO SLEEP! So yes, it was good. The stupidest thing? Taking a sip of my drink thinking its the same stuff I have at home and then remarking that it tastes really weird. Looked at the bottle and then realized it was VSOP and not XO. Smart.

Boy in a Rock and Roll Band - The Pierces

What I love about September?

Firstly, the SS12 Fashion Shows of course. Although I was not physically there and I don't think I actually ever will be but I still loved every minute of watching it online. The clothes are to die for. My personal favourites include...

Next, Gossip Girl Season 5. Now you know I can't get enough of Chuck Bass and the rest of the cast of course. Oh! and the fashion. So yes, I love the fact that the 5th Season of Gossip Girl started. Episode 6 this week too.

And like every other girl that watches Gossip Girl, I'm also hooked on Ed Westwick's voice.

Next, iOS 5. No doubt that I do not own me a iPhone 4S, I do have an iPhone 4 and the iOS 5 update, besides being free solves the shaky hands photographs, updates my weather hourly and gives me all those oh so important Groupon updates all in one summary page. So far I am loving the update but don't get me wrong, I still want Siri.

Last but not least, Hauls! I love getting stuff cheap, or discounted. Speaking of which, I finally bought my Revlon Photoready Foundation, a new tube of mascara, a new coral shade lipstick and the most gorgeous nail colour on earth so far. Creme Brulee by Revlon.

Not only that, I also got two awesome dresses for RM44 and 59 respectively. No photos yet, but soon. Now I need to get me a pair of heels, a pair of wedges and a pair of loafers for everyday use. So that's about what I love about September.

Hong Kong Garden - Siousxie and the Banshees

Been feeling down in the dumps lately and wondering if whether SAD happens in parts of the world where there isn't 4 seasons. I'm holding on, it happens and I'll move on soon. As of right now, I really feel like being alone but I know doing that only makes thing worse so I am forcing myself to smile and do happy normal things. Not to mention its been one of the most hectic months ever.

You know what will make me happy right now?

Maybe some flowers, a box of Macaroons, Jewellery and maybe a trip to a foreign land alone for a month. Any one of those would keep me alive and happy for some time.

Sympathique - Pink Martini

Bonjourno darlings!

It was back to back dinners for me this weekend. First was the international buffet at The Armada on Saturday when I wished that I was at the David Foster show or my friends's TFGN and there's the pot luck at the house. Spent the whole of Saturday helping mom in the kitchen making all sorts of food, the hardest by far was the Xiao Long Bao but it was a good experience. Also watched Paris, Je T'aime! in the Sunday afternoon. The movie was in French but there were subtitles and the film is actually a compilation of short stories about the expression of love, loss of love and different loves. The best part, the setting - Paris! Anyway, I have invitations to send, 2 parties to plan and one more charity event to organize on top of work, assignments and class. So... blog later! Been rather busy lately, not to mention feeling really under the weather. Migraines and the flu and cough is definitely my worst enemy as of now. All else is good though. I have been watching the SS12 shows the whole afternoon, it started off because I was bored and then one show led to another and it was like I couldn't stop. I was hooked but on the plus side, I did get some inspiration to draw up what dresses I want for my tailor. Just thought I'd share some of the photos from the fashion shows.

Bonjour again!

I've decided today that I shall do one of those famous "What's in my Bag" posts. Been wanting to for a long time but couldn't find the kick to do it. Guess I found it today. I also made it a point not to clean out my bag or leave anything out so this is what I am currently using, with all the stuff inside. So lets get to the contents.

I honestly never knew that I had so many things inside my bag until I started listing it out. It also happens that I had already taken out my books and files the other day or it would have been longer. I also never realized that I owned so many branded items just in my purse alone. Surprisingly everything looks rather organized as well, I always thought that if I ever did a "What's in my Bag" post that there would be so much rubbish inside and that it would be totally embarrassing.
